South by SouthWest

South by SouthWest is an Interactive, Film, and Music festival that charges creativity and encourages out-of-the-box thinking. More than 7500 people from across the globe attend this event every year and SAC students from the Graphic Arts Club had the privilege to attend in 2008 thanks to sponsorship by Student Life.

The festival takes place in Austin, Texas, with daytime programming at the Convention Center in downtown Austin and evening events occuring at various nightspots around the city. SXSW March 7-16 2008. SXSW is set up in panels during the day , ranging in all kind of topics from the programming perspective all the way to the gossip industry. During the night plenty of events take place all over downtown Austin as many corporations, from Google to Facebook showcase their services.

SXSW really is a place for networking. Designers, developers, filmmakers and enthusiast unite at this festival to learn, share ideas and expand their knowledge on the media. Even though the Graphic Arts Club was one of the few student groups the ambience was great as we mingled with plenty of professionals eager to encourage us and offer us tips, help, and more.
